Holiday Crete 2025 agenda – Agenda Zorbas Island, Crete – Season 2025: Every year we have an extensive excursion programme on Crete with several regular excursions as well as new ones. You are probably curious to know what activities we will organise at Zorbas Island in the coming season. In this agenda for Crete, we give an overview of some activities that we think will interest you. Especially special excursions and activities we will highlight here. By this we mean, for example, multi-day excursions such as cooking weeks and hiking weeks in Crete. You can also find more information about new excursions that we have added to our programme.

Walking weeks are always available on request.

Zorbas Island is open from 4-5 April till 18 November 2025

03 March 2025: Start of the orthodox lent (Καθαρά Δευτέρα). Offical holiday in Greece.

25 March 2025: Celebration of the Greek Revolution (Εικοστή Πέμπτη Μαρτιου). Offical holiday in Greece.

E4 walk – Loutro (South-West Crete)

7 – 11 April 2025 – E4 walk – Walk from Chora Sfakia to Loutro, Ag. Ioannis Gorge, Aer Lingus Gorge, Aradena Gorge and gorge of Frangokastello

A E4 of 5 days in South-West Crete. We stay 4 nights in the village of Loutro on the coast.

On 7 April we start with a walk from Chora Sfakia, via Glyka Nera to Loutro. A beautiful walk along the coast.

8 April: walk through Ag. Ioannis Gorge towards the South-coast over the E4 walking trail to Marmara Beach. From there on to Loutro.

9 April: hike through the Aer Lingus Gorge to Loutro.

10 April: the always spectacular hike through the Aradena Gorge, via the coast back to Loutro.

11 April: walk through the Gorge of Frangokastello.

12 to 19 April 2025 – Flower walks – Flowers in Crete

Walking and flowers on Crete (Greece): In the spring, the mountains are like a sea of flowers. Eveywhere are growing wild flowers. During our hikes on Crete we always see a lot of different flowers and plants. Each season you can smell the lovely scent of wild growing flowers on Crete. Read more

Greek cooking holiday

14 to 17 April 2025 – Cooking Week – Crete cooking course & Greek cooking workshop (4 days, including an excursion Unknown Crete)

Greek cooking holiday: A full week cooking holiday in Crete, enjoying the outdoors. Cooking workshop in Crete, cooking in olive oil, cooking class in Crete, food recognition, outdoor cooking. We give you an impression of a cooking holiday in Crete on this page. The cooking workshops take place in our own olive field and once at Zorbas by the sea. We also visit a local market. 18 April to 10 May 2025 – May holidays Greece – May holidays in Crete

To Greece in the May holidays: Spring on Crete, Greece is particularly beautiful. Many flowers and herbs bloom in the mountains and Crete has a lovely temperature in spring. This year, Greek Easter (20 April) is during the holidays. Various excursions are possible such as Unknown Crete, hiking, sailing, boat trips, jeep safaris and quad tours. Read more.

Easter in Greece

18 to 20 April 2025 – Greek Easter

In 2025 Greek Easter and Catholic Easter are on the same date!

From Friday, 18 April, we will have the Easter programme:

On Friday (18 April 2025) we will do a tour through the interior of Crete with many Easter activities, in non-touristy areas. We will go to a village where the crucifixion of Christ is recreated. This is a Greek ritual for Easter and symbolises Christ’s suffering on the cross.

In the evening, join us in the mountain village of Anopolis where an Easter procession takes place. The villagers walk from the church behind the symbolic tomb of Christ through the village streets.

On Saturday, 19 April, we will paint Easter eggs. In the evening, we walk to the church in the village. There we collect the holy fire which is spread by the priest and those present. At midnight, there are fireworks and a Judas doll is burned.

On Sunday 20 April (Easter Sunday), we have an elaborate Greek Easter BBQ at the end of the afternoon with music. Read more

13 – 16 May 2025 – E4 walk – Walk from Chora Sfakia to Loutro, Ag. Ioannis Gorge, Aer Lingus Gorge, Aradena Gorge and gorge of Frangokastello

Painting workshop on Crete

26 to 30 May 2025 – Painting workshop on Crete

Painting workshop on Crete, Greece: this week, we will organise a special 5-day painting workshop open to all, with or without painting experience.

During this workshop, we will create different paintings: intuitive portraits, nature and villages. There will be sketching with charcoal and painting with acrylic paint. And this special workshop will be given by artist Lies Apon.

At the end of the week, there will be an exhibition of Lies’ work at cafe bar Dali in Anopolis. Of course, all participants are welcome to visit here.

It will be a week full of cultural Crete and nature visiting the real bits of Crete with some painting workshops in our own olive grove. Read more

9 to 12 June 2025 – Cooking Week – Crete cooking course & Greek cooking workshop (4 days, including an excursion Unknown Crete)

Jeep safari

17 and 18 June 2025: a 2-day jeep safari to South-Crete where we spend the night. This way we see a lot of Crete, driving a lot off-road and sometimes on the asphalt.

6 to 9 October 2025: Island hopping from Crete to Ios.

A 4-day trip to Ios. On Ios, we do several different trips. We visit the island of Sikinos and go by boat around Folegandros.

On day 1 we go with the ferry from Heraklio, via Santorini to Ios. Here we stay in a luxuruous villa. We visit Ios-town before we head to the villa.

On day 2 we explore the island of Ios.

Day 3: we make a boat trip to the island of Sikinos and go around Folegandros. At the end of the day we go back to Ios.

On the last day we visit Ios-town again before we go back to Crete.

20 to 23 October 2025 – Cooking Week – Crete cooking course & Greek cooking workshop (4 days, including an excursion Unknown Crete)

27 to 30 October – 4 days Unknown Crete Chania

We stay in a luxuruous villa near Chania-town.

Day 1: we leave around 6 am from Zorbas to go to West-Crete. We drive through the inland to Perivolia where we stay the next days.

Day 2: visit to Paleochora and Kandanos. We visit these 2 villages in Southwest-Crete.

Day 3: we leave early to take the boat to Balos, from Kissamos. We go past the uttermost peninsula of Crete. We see the fortress island Gramvousa, where the Barbarossa fortress is located.

Day 4: we leave Chania again. We visit either the botanical gardens of Crete or we go to Chania-town. We leave early to be ahead of the crowds. After this we drive back to Zorbas.

Excursions on Crete 2025: The above agenda for Crete is only a small example of what can be done on Crete. Our range of excursions that we organize is very extensive. That way we can offer everyone something nice to do. On top of that, if you have special wishes, you can always contact us.
